This was my first book by Ms. Moser and after reading it I wondered what took me so long. When I first started reading the first book in the Manor House series, it reminded me of Pride and Prejudice.
However, the titled Summerfields have a lot more drama and intrigued going on to remain as simple as Pride and Prejudice. But that's NOT a bad thing.
I love romance, but when you add in secrets, it makes the book that much better. I kept turning the page wondering when all of the secrets would come out and what would happen. Do you know the book still ended with unanswered questions? I have no choice but to read Book 2 so that I can find the answers. (Picture me rubbing my hands in glee.)
Ms. Moser's novel is not about just one person. There are so many characters and each grabbed my attention for one reason or another. There's the lovely, Lila, the shopkeepers daughter. She wants nothing more than to find a man who loves her for her and recognizes her worth. Yet she is constantly overshadowed by her big brother and her mother's expectations.
Then there is Ruth Weston, Lady Summerfield. She holds a secret that has sequestered her to her suite. When she finally gets the courage to step out of her room, life happens.
I could go on and on, but I might bore you. Suffice it to say, you need to read this book. It's historical romance with a bit of suspense that makes you wonder why you've never picked the book up until now.
