Her stories are never rushed, which adds a depth of connection with her characters. And with her latest novel, Ms. Henderson did not disappoint.
Shannon Bliss was kidnapped when she was 16 years old. Now 11 years later, she seeks out former cop, Matthew Dane, to assist her in reentering the world. (Ahhh! Doesn't that just grab your inner book nerd and make you want to run to the nearest book store?!)
The thing I liked most about Shannon was she refused to let the kidnapping mar her life. No one knows what they would do in that kind of situation, yet every step Shannon made was completely believable to me. I wanted her to join the world with success and I wanted the kidnapping to be solved.
Matthew Dane was the perfect person to help Shannon, since his daughter had been kidnapped as well. He helps Shannon viewing her through the lens of his daughter's kidnapping.
Of course, Dee Henderson weaves in a romantic line between Shannon and Dane. My only complaint, the romance was left open ended. I would love to see a part two with their story completed. Until then, I'll be eagerly awaiting her next novel.
